Her face. It was the oldest one I think I have ever seen. She had silver grey hair tied neatly in a bun, but her face, it was etched with deep wrinkles, completely covered with blemishes, and had scattered age spots everywhere. And those sunken dark brown wide eyes, supported by swollen bags, were just glaring right at me. When Ilifted my hand to cover my eyes, so did she. Every move I made, she copied. It took me a few minutes to realize, this was my reflection…

The first thing I did was run to the nearest mirror to examine my skin. Because I saw nothing I thought that was the end of it, that the horrible nightmare was over. But no! The real scary part was when I learned that whether you’re in your early 20’s or 30’s aging is possible.

Keeping your skins “youthfulleness” has less to do with age than how you treat it. And so, ever since I make sure to do these 4 simple steps to hold onto my skins collagen, glow, and elasticity for however long as I can make it last.

1) CLEAN: Find yourself a good cleanser that works for you. Not one that makes your skin too oily, and not one that will dry out your skin. Also it is important to make sure you don’t “over cleanse” either. On really just needs to wash your face once in the morning and night toremove any makeup or filth that can clog your pores. Always rinse with lukewarm water. The skin doesn’t like to be too disturbed. Hot or cold water can both cause broken capillaries.

2) EXFOLIATE: It is vital to exfoliate the skin. One can exfoliate skinvia microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and retinoid. The scrub works by simply removing the top layer of dead skin cells that tend to dull your complexion. By exfoliating your skin, just once a week, you get to keep that glowing appearance all year round. By doing this step, you are generating the collagen, which is the skins structural fiber, which is the thing that breaks down as we get age, creating more lines and
larger pores.

3) MOISTURIZE: Almost any beauty expert will tell you that the basic rule of beauty is to invest in a basic moisturizer. It keeps skin tight and firm. Also, be sure to keep in mind that over-moisturizing can clogpores, so listen to your skin and apply when it’s dry.

4) SUNSCREEN: Wrinkles are clearly one of the biggest beauty concerns. And people just don’t seem to get the message, no matter how much knowledge they receive on the harm UV radiation can have. Sun equals wrinkles. The damage you do when your young, will be exposed when your older. Prevent damage now, and wear sunscreen. Also, don’t be fooled with the time of year. Sunscreen can be worn every single day, winter and cloudy days included.
